Who we are
CYC The Island is an activity of Christian Youth Camps Ltd (CYC), is a ministry of the Christian Brethren Assemblies of Victoria and a foundation member of Christian Venues Association (CVA).

Our Mission
Christian Youth Camps Limited (CYC) seeks, through camping, conferencing, facilities and programs to create opportunities for all involved to personally experience Christian life and values.

Our Core Purposes and Aims

  • to conduct such camping, conferencing and similar facilities for the benefit of the community and in accordance with the fundamental beliefs and doctrines of the Christian Brethren.
  • Provide quality facilities and services so that all who work in or use them are aware that it is a place where Christ is honoured. Where there is an atmosphere of peace, and where there is an opportunity of experiencing the truth of God’s love;
  • Provide through the provision of the camping, conference and related facilities, an environment and the opportunity to communicate the Christian faith in a way which is culturally relevant;
  • Run camping, conference and related facilities to cater for all age groups but in particular to provide facilities for primary and secondary school children;
  • Permit the use of such facilities under CYC’s control to be used for camping, conferencing and related facilities in order to create opportunities for all who visit the campsites personally to experience Christian life and values;
  • Provide accommodation and facilities for holidays for disadvantaged persons;
  • Provide accommodation and facilities for other compatible charitable groups to use those facilities conducted or operated by CYC to develop and implement their own programs of care;
  • To conduct and operate CYC The Island subject to and consistently with these provisions;

We Believe
The main tenets of our faith are summed up in CYC’s statement of faith, as set out below.

  • We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the infallible and authoritative word of God;
  • We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
  • We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his vicarious and atoning death through his shed blood, in his bodily resurrection, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal return to power and glory;
  • We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential;
  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life;
  • We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved to eternal life in Christ, they that are lost to eternal separation from Him;
  • We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Christ.

With a range of venues in Victoria, Australia, Christian Youth Camps Limited conducts its own Holiday Camps and Leadership Development ministries, to nurture of young people into the Christian faith. Although initiated by and strongly connected with the Christian Brethren, Christian Youth Camps Limited’s facilities are available to school and church groups and for corporate and conferencing activities which are not inconsistent with the objects and purposes of the Christian Brethren

The core intention of CYC’s ‘everyday’ camping ministry is to live our lives before our guests, so that they may see Christ in us. When asked and opportunity exists, staff freely share their faith in open dialogue.  Our sites are chosen to reflect the majesty of God our creator and help our guests reflect on this during their time away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  We trust that, as you leave one of our facilities you are refreshed and ready to face the world anew, ready to serve both your neighbour and God in part because we have reflected the same to you during your stay with us.
